Circle Carbon Labs is a regenerative farming and soil innovation project based in Mallorca (Bunyola), focused on building carbon-negative food systems through biochar-based soil regeneration, organic growing, and hands-on education.
Founded in 2018 as a social enterprise, Circle Carbon develops what it describes as a “Natural Path Technology” for carbon-negative soil regeneration. The lab produces biochar via controlled pyrolysis (Pyrogenic Carbon Capture and Storage), using locally sourced biomass residues (such as olive, almond, carob, pine). The resulting biochar is then used to create living soils and compost blends that support microorganisms, improve nutrient availability, increase water-holding capacity, and strengthen plant resilience—highly relevant in Mediterranean conditions where soils are often low in organic matter.
What you can do with Circle Carbon
- Book a guided farm experience to explore the regenerative farm model, biochar creation, soil production, and community garden spaces.
- Visit by appointment to see the demo/show garden and learn about biochar-grown vegetables and seasonal produce.
- Enquire about soil products, workshops, or consulting for growers, land projects, and regeneration initiatives looking to apply biochar and circular farming methods.
The project is community-oriented and positions itself as a living example of how local production, soil restoration, and education can improve food security while supporting climate action. They also highlight a social impact angle through collaboration that supports employment pathways for people returning to the job market.
Note: The site states they are currently closed to the public; visits and experiences are typically arranged in advance. If you are planning a conscious day out from Palma or the Tramuntana area, it’s best to email or call ahead to confirm availability and what is currently offered on-site.
